In the present, information can be called up by the media at any time and is omnipresent. We potentially know everything. At the same time, however, we are exposed to the phenomenon of so-called "fake news". Therefore, we should be able to critically question at any time what "truthfulness" an information has. But is this even possible? Are we actually able to differentiate between "fake news" and facts? Who assures me that an information source is legitimate? The present work of art is meant to remind that “truth”, "lie" and "manipulation" are close together. Leaders like to use the possibilities of manipulation by media for their own purposes. At the same time, critical discussions in societies have largely been lost since the advent of the mass media. People are inferior to the urge for entertainment and sensation. As Neil Postman explains in 1985, "We Amuse Yourself to Death - Judgment in the Age of the Entertainment Industry". In my opinion, the current crisis exacerbates the problem, because: what roles do the media play in their reporting? Is morality placed above rationality or do the media follow a logic of entertainment here too? The questions should remain open and stimulate what we all lack: the critical discourse. — Mario Maurer

— Mario Maurer

Animals give us closeness. They accompany people as trusting and loyal partners in life. For many, this seems to be particularly important in the current situation. But what about the humanization of animals in this context? We are now increasingly experiencing the phenomenon of keeping small domestic pigs through the media. They are disguised, "brought up" and put into the limelight, while fellow species are bred in large quantities under the most adverse circumstances and then shipped for automated slaughter. Is it our prosperity that creates this form of perversion? Or is it all just fun? With this work of art, I want to inspire you to think. What relationships do I want to build in my environment? What do I really need and is it justifiable to manipulate life to satisfy my own needs or even to replace human partners? — Mario Maurer

—Mario Maurer
